Scotland are third in Group I while Kazakhstan are fifth. Both teams are out of contention for the two top slots with Belgium and Russia having progressed. But Kazakhstan could climb up the standings for a decent third-placed finish should they take down the Scots. However, this will also depend on the outcome of the match between Belgium and Cyprus, which Cyprus must win to claim the second runners up position. Scotland have not had an easy time this campaign and have won four and lost five of nine played games. The team most recently won 2-1 at Cyprus with Ryan Christie and John McGinn being behind the goals. Prior to the match, Scotland had handed bottom side San Marino a 6-0 thrashing, a victory that had come at a time when Steve Clarke's men were struggling to overcome a four game losing run. Luckily, John McGinn scored a hattrick against San Marino which combined with goals from Lawrence Shankland, Stuart Findlay and Stuart Armstrong for a resounding victory. At Glasgow, the Scottish side is in average form having won three times in six fixtures across all competitions. Visitors Kazakhstan have won three times and lost five of their nine group games this season. Kazakhstan travel to Scotland on the back of a 3-1 victory at San Marino. Prior to the San Marino win, Kazakhstan had lost three back to back games. But they came out into the San Marino game a brilliant side with Baktiyor Zaynutdinov, Gafurzhan Suyumbayev and Aleksey Schetkin netting the goals. Coach Michael Bilek will be cautious as he takes on Scotland because his team has been struggling in away games, where they have only won once in six games across all competitions. However, it is highly likely that the visitors will score in the match as they have only failed to score in two of six away matches.
Our bet explained
- Scotland have won three times in six home games.
- Kazakhstan have won once in six away matches.
- Kazakhstan have scored in four of six away games.
- All of Scotland's last six games have ended in over 2.5 goals.
Our Scotland Kazakhstan tip
It may appear like Scotland have a direct win in this match given that they have a home advantage. However, Kazakhstan have a shot at third-place and will try to run with it. We expect both teams to score and the total number of goals to be at least three.
