Another clash of continents in the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup: South Africa challenge Wales! Strung up by Japan at the start of the World Cup, the Boks have only ramped up their game since, successfully trouncing Samoa (46-6), Scotland (34-16) and the USA (64-0). Bryan Habana has taken the opportunity to become the best scorer of the competition with 15 goals. Wales sunk England 28-25 to take a step towards the quarters, despite a winded match against Fiji (26-16) followed by a defeat against the Australians (15-6) to close Pool A. Can the Boks count on the power of their pack to take on Wales starting XV who are still a dangerous outsider?
Our bet explained
- South Africa have had three days of additional rest time and did not use too much man power their last match against the US where they won 64-0.
- Welsh‘s Cory Allen and Hallam Amos are injured. Wales displayed a solid performance in a very difficult Pool A, as seen against England and Australia.
- The "Sudafs" have already scored 23 tries in this World Cup, which is the second highest total behind New Zealand (25). The Welsh have crossed the line just 11 times, quite a poor track record for a team who have reached the quarter-finals.
Our South Africa Wales tip
Since their loss to Japan, South Africa has been on steamroller mode. Although very strong up front, the Boks should logically dominate the Welsh, a team that has already burnt out after the last three gruelling games played in Group A (England, Fiji, Australia). We see good value in South Africa taking this one.
