After eliminating Sweden in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, England are now booked to play Croatia in the penultimate round of the tournament. The three Lions handed Sweden a 2-0 beating, the goals coming in either half, through Harry Maguire and Dele Alli. Next opponents Croatia qualified for the second-to-last stage after edging out hosts Russia 4-3 in the round of penalties, following a 2-2 draw at the end of extra time. Andrej Kramaric and Domagoj Vida scored the goals for the Croatian side to cancel out those by Denis Cheryshev and Mario Fernandes to send the match to the round of spot kicks. This is the third semifinal appearance for England while Croatia, who have played in the World Cup four times, have been to round of four once. The winner of the next match will meet the winner of the match between Belgium and France.
